Working with fabric, yarn, and other textile materials is very comforting and can feel quite grown-up for young artists.

It seems that fewer children today know how to handsew or knit than when I was young. It’s exciting to watch a child thread a needle for the first time. It is empowering and a lifelong skill that can turn a simple piece of fabric into a work of art.

The most important thing to keep in mind when working with textiles is patience. Good lighting, comfortable chairs, and a relaxed atmosphere are all bonuses!
