3 Paper: Transformed

Paper is one of the most versatile materials. An artist can change the appearance of paper by adding color, water, or glue, or simply by folding it. It is readily available and is a material that I cannot imagine living without. Paper is most often made from plant fibers. The lessons in this chapter involve paper being transformed into three-dimensional objects. From handmade books to relief sculptures, paper is at the core of these lessons. We will use a wide variety of papers, from thick cardboard to thin origami paper, to create our sculptural objects.
