Two seconds after 3M issued a news release confirming its acquisition of Lingualcare Inc. in 2007, Lea Nesbit e-mailed the release to everyone who had ever turned down her request for money.
The company, which developed a proprietary technology for the mass customization of invisible braces that attach to the back of the teeth, was founded in 2003 by Nesbit and Ruedger Rubbert, a German mechanical engineer. They worked with a doctor to develop the proprietary technology and intellectual property needed to launch the company.
