Our company name and how we use it
While our legal name is O’Reilly Media, Inc., our brand name is simply “O’Reilly.” Unfortunately, we share our name with some other rather famous O’Reillys: Bill O’Reilly, formerly of Fox News, and O’Reilly Auto Parts, for example. To help people and search engines find us fast, always use our complete web address correctly: oreilly.com.
Where the O’Reilly logo or name is positioned in the materials we produce is important. In most design executions, our mark should be placed in the top left corner. In body copy, using O’Reilly early provides important context to all the words that follow. In all executions, please avoid overusing our name. Repetition can actually dilute its power.
The O’Reilly learning platform
The O’Reilly learning platform is more than a library—it’s a learning solution. When referring to the O’Reilly learning platform, please avoid wording or references that could limit a reader’s understanding of everything it entails. This includes terms that might make visitors equate the O’Reilly learning platform with the mental model of a library or publisher (i.e., words like “access”).
Tip: After the first use of “the O’Reilly learning platform” in your copy, you can usually refer to it as simply “O’Reilly.” And “learning platform” is always lowercase.
Example: The O’Reilly learning platform gives you the tools you need to succeed with Python. Learn how to solve your pressing problems and get back to work fast, only with O’Reilly.
Note: Please discontinue the use of both “O’Reilly online learning” and “Safari” (our previous names for the O’Reilly learning platform) in all communication.
