iPhone Hacks--New from O'Reilly: Over 100 Tips & Tools for Unlocking the Power of Your iPhone & iPod Touch

iPhone Hacks Sebastopol, CA—Chances are if you own an iPhone (or iPod), you long to discover its hackability. And a new book from O'Reilly—iPhone Hacks (O'Reilly/Make, $34.99)—can help you do just that.

Expert authors David Jurick, Adam Stolarz, and Damien Stolarz teach you how to make your iPhone do all you'd expect of a smartphone and more. Learn tips and techniques to unleash little-known features, find and create innovative applications for the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch, and unshackle these devices to run everything from network utilities to video game emulators.

Stocked with over 100 tips from the experts at O'Reilly Media's MAKE magazine, this new book will teach you how to:

  • Import your movie collection, sync with multiple computers, and save YouTube videos
  • Remotely access your home network, audio, video, and even control your desktop
  • Develop native applications for the iPhone and iPod touch on Linux, Windows, or Mac
  • Check email, receive MMS messages, use IRC, and record full-motion video
  • Mirror the iPhone display on a television using video output
  • Make your iPhone emulate old-school video game platforms and play classic console and arcade games
  • Integrate your iPhone with your car stereo
  • Connect keyboards, microcontrollers (such as Arduino), and serial devices to your iPhone without jailbreaking

Indeed, iPhone Hacks explains how to set up your iPhone the way you want it, and helps you give it capabilities that will rival your desktop computer. This cunning handbook is exactly what you need to make the most of your iPhone.

David Jurick was tragically born a siamese twin. His twin happened to be a PC computer with a 1394a umbilical cord linking the two. Thus, he's been around computers for a considerable amount of time. David has extensive experience in such topics as networking, hardware, software, and HTML programming. He graduated high school in 2001, and then went on to receive a B.S. degree from U.C. Santa Barbara.

Adam Stolarz is a writer, gadget-user, and gamer, who has been using and defending Apple products from the beginning. He's worked in the field of in-car computers, dissecting and assembling carputers, and contributes to in-car hacking and internet video books.

Damien Stolarz is an inventor who's made different kinds of computers talk to each other for a decade. He co-founded Blue Falcon Networks to architect and develop networking software. In 2002, Damien created Robotarmy, a high-technology consulting firm.
