Another O'Reilly Author Named to Canon's Explorers of Light Program: Fostering Imaging Excellence and Nurturing Digital Photography's Next Wave
Sebastopol, CA--Getting recognized for one's lifetime achievements is at
once meaningful and satisfying. So last week, when Canon U.S.A. renewed
its Explorers of Light panel and added 20 new members, San Francisco Bay
Area photographer Stephen Johnson was understandably honored to be named
to the prestigious group.
Johnson, widely know for his landscape photography and author of a new
O'Reilly publication, Stephen Johnson on Digital Photography (US $39.99)
relied on a Canon camera to capture his recent images of the Galapagos and
Antarctica.
"For me, the flexibility of hand-held photography has always been a part
of photography's seduction," says Johnson. "It's natural for me to seek
out the highest quality and highest resolution systems to use. Canon has
been leading digital camera innovation in the 35mm realm."
In his new book, Johnson--whose stunning photographs grace the permanent
collections of institutions and museums throughout the United States
including the Oakland Museum--shows photo enthusiasts and professionals
how to tap into the power and range of today's digital tools to create
compelling photos.
Founded in 1995, the Explorers of Light program today promotes 78
photographers, all Canon shooters, as the very best photographers to help
foster and mentor imaging excellence. Among the members is well-known
photographer and new O'Reilly author, Eddie Tapp. In his new book
Photoshop Workflow Setups: Eddie Tapp on Digital Photography (US $29.99)--the first in a five book series
about mastering the art of digital photography--Tapp shows why nothing is
more critical than setting up an efficient Photoshop workspace, optimized
for the way you work as a photographer.
At O'Reilly, we strive to bring the knowledge of digital photography
experts to a broad audience of enthusiasts and professionals. We applaud
our celebrated authors' membership in Canon's Explorers of Light program.
