O'Reilly and DigitalEd Sign Exclusive Web Courses Deal with barnesandnoble.com
SEBASTOPOL, CA--O'Reilly & Associates, Digital Education Systems (DigitalEd), and barnesandnoble.com have signed an agreement for barnesandnoble.com to resell O'Reilly/DigitalEd web-based courses. As part of the agreement, barnesandnoble.com will be the exclusive online bookstore to resell the courses. The O'Reilly/DigitalEd courses, based on O'Reilly's bestselling technical books, provide a self-paced online learning experience that takes full advantage of the Web's interactivity. barnesandnoble.com will offer 12 courses in O'Reilly's Web technology series plus "Introduction to the Palm Pilot." The required books for all courses will also be available at barnesandnoble.com (www.bn.com), a leading Internet commerce site for booklovers.

"barnesandnoble.com provides a unique service to the forward-thinking corporate customers who are adopting the O'Reilly/DigitalEd web-based courses," said Jill Berlin, O'Reilly's Director of Sales. "We're pleased to enter into this partnership with them to promote our state-of-the-art courseware via barnesandnoble.com."

O'Reilly/DigitalEd courseware, launched in March, 1998, is being used by corporations including Cisco Systems, US Internetworking, Verio, and Sun Microsystems.

Wendy Moore, US Internetworking's director of training, said "DigitalEd enjoys instant credibility given its partnerships with expert content partners including O'Reilly & Associates. We never have to worry that DigitalEd courseware is accurate or up-to-date. Just as impressively, DigitalEd courseware is well designed, intuitively responding to how our people best learn. It doesn't require a lot of bandwidth and provides a rich, interactive learning environment that makes a very strong case for the benefits of web-based training."
