Library Journal Names Top
Consumer Health Books

Library Journal has named its list of top Consumer Health titles for the year 2000. The Patient-Centered Guides series has three books in the top twenty:

# 5 Childhood Cancer Survivors

#13 Organ Transplants

#19 Making Informed Medical Decisions

Making Informed Medical Decisions was co-authored by Lucy Thomas, Director of the Reeves Medical Library in Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara California and active in CAPHIS. Lucy did book signings at the MLA in Orlando.

Lucy talks about using her own book to research her recent treatment decisions.

Childhood Cancer Survivors was co-authored by Nancy Keene, childhood cancer advocate, author, and Editor with Patient-Centered Guides. Nancy will be speaking at the Family Resource Center conference, June 12-14 in Toronto, on the needs of parents for information after a diagnosis of cancer.

Nancy has written four other books for the series: Childhood Leukemia, Childhood Cancer (solid tumor cancers), Working with Your Doctor, and Your Child in the Hospital.

Organ Transplants was written by Robert Finn. Robert is also author of Cancer Clinical Trials, a Patient-Centered Guides title.

Congratulations to our authors.
