Maker Faire, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, Returns for the 7th Annual Bay Area Faire, May 19-20

SEBASTOPOL, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 24, 2012) - Maker Faire, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, will be held at the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo, CA, on Saturday, May 19 from 10am to 8pm, and Sunday, May 20 from 10am to 6pm.

Over 600 makers will be sharing their projects, inventions and hobbies at the Bay Area festival. A full list of makers can be found at http://www.makerfaire.com. From arts and crafts, food, and music to science and engineering projects, the makers will showcase their incredible projects and tell their stories of DIY spirit and creativity. Maker extraordinaire Adam Savage, of MythBusters fame, will be back this year! Come see Adam present at 11am on Sunday, May 20.

"We are thrilled to be back for a seventh year in the Bay Area," said Maker-in-Chief, Sherry Huss, of O'Reilly Media's MAKE division. "We have hundreds of new makers at the festival who, along with returning makers, have so many fun and exciting projects to share with attendees. We're expecting over 100,000 people this year, and they're in for an amazing weekend."

Along with rockets, robots, science and technology, the Homegrown Village and Maker Square at Maker Faire has an entire area focused on food, urban farming, and sustainability. Local farmers from the Bay Area will teach attendees all about cheese making, home coffee brewing, backyard beekeeping, seed bombing, composting, urban goat keeping and milking, and much more. Master gardeners will be on hand to teach participants how to build bug habitats; the folks from Tumbleweed Tiny House Company will be speaking and have an exhibit. Faire goers can learn how to make their own butter, DIY chocolate and beer! These are just a few of the makers to meet in the Homegrown Village area.
