Traction Selected as Creative Agency for CMP Technology and O'Reilly Media's Web 2.0 Expo Event

San Francisco Based Group to Develop Traditional Print Media for Event

SAN FRANCISCO -- Web 2.0 Expo, produced by O?Reilly Media, Inc. and CMP Technology, Inc., today announced their decision to select Traction as the creative group to spearhead the events branding initiatives. Traction, a San Francisco based company, will be designing any and all creative and branded print materials for the "next generation web" show, which expects to play host to over 5,000 attendees. Web 2.0 Expo will take place April 15-18, 2007 at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco.

"One of the issues we faced with Web 2.0 Expo, was how to market a show created around the topic of web based social networking applications through traditional media," stated Stacy O'Connell, Vice President of Marketing at CMP Technology. "The target audience for Web 2.0 Expo consists of individuals use the web as a primary means of communication. Traction was able to address the incongruous nature of this need and create products that seamlessly integrated the Web 2.0 concept into a traditional media campaign that really captures the essence of our audience."

"Traction is not your traditional company, much like Web 2.0 Expo is not your traditional event," added Adam Kleinberg, CEO and Founder of Traction. "You will be hard pressed to find any creative boundaries that define Traction or to find a client whose needs are beyond our ability. In fact, we approach all of our projects in a holistic matter in order to create and design the most creative and appropriate marketing tools possible. When approached by CMP Technology and O'Reilly Media for the Web 2.0 Expo, we knew it would be a perfect fit."

Traction, headed by a group of individuals with backgrounds in advertising, marketing and technology, has a long list and wide variety of high profile clients including the East Bay SPCA, HP and Virgin Mobile. Adding Web 2.0 Expo to this list, a show conceived around products which pride themselves in breaking the traditional mold, further extended the spectrum of clients Traction has worked with. Traction beat out 5 other creative agencies to be the primary design team for the Web 2.0 Expo brand.

Web 2.0 Expo is designed to be the major annual gathering of the technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building the next generation web. This event is comprised of three major components and will feature the most innovative and successful Internet industry figures and companies. These industry pioneers will provide attendees with examples of business models, development paradigms, and design strategies to enable mainstream businesses and new arrivals to the Web 2.0 world to take advantage of this new generation of services and opportunities.
