Pearson Prentice Hall Sole Representative for O'Reilly Books in the US and Canada Higher Education Markets

Sebastopol, CA--O'Reilly Media and Pearson Prentice Hall announced today that Pearson is distributing O'Reilly's books--in both print and electronic form--to the U.S. and Canada higher education markets. Beginning this month, Pearson Prentice Hall's higher education sales force will add O'Reilly Computer Science and Information Technology titles to their current offerings. They will also represent the selection of O'Reilly titles available through the eTextbook service SafariX Textbooks Online, a partnership between the Pearson Technology Group (PTG) and O'Reilly.

"Our books are well known in the professional market, where our pragmatic, practitioner-focused approach has been appreciated by those in the technology trenches for over twenty years," said CJ Rayhill, general manager of O'Reilly's Education division. "We believe the time is right to bring O'Reilly books into the classroom, to better prepare Computer Science and Information Technology students for the challenges they'll face when they complete their studies and enter the workforce. Given Pearson's strength in the academic market, we're very pleased to work with them to make appropriate O'Reilly books available to professors and their students."

"O'Reilly has an innovative and accessible approach that has a proventrack record with practitioners and is a natural complement to the Prentice Hall Computer Science and Information Technology and Pearson Professional Technology Group titles that our sales force represents," noted Tim Bozik, president of Pearson Prentice Hall, the world's largest higher education publisher.
