finger [options] users
Display data about one or more users, including information listed in the files .plan and .project in each user's home directory. You can specify each user either as a login name (exact match) or as a first or last name (display information on all matching names). Networked environments recognize arguments of the form
Force long format (default): everything included by the -s option, as well as home directory, home phone, login shell, mail status, .plan, .project, and .forward.
Suppress matching of users' "real" names.
Omit .plan and .project files from display.
Show short format: login name, real name, terminal name, write status, idle time, office location, and office phone number.
