Ofer Halevi spends much of his time working as a software architect in London. For him, taking pictures helps bring balance to his life. "Photography allows me to escape back to the real world, to light and structure, away from the abstract ideas and digital vapor. My subjects are people, nature, and architecture," he says.

I was attracted to Ofer's work because of his ability to find interesting juxtapositions and incorporate them into his compositions. I especially like images where people seem to be interacting with posters and other inanimate objects.

"These photographs are about today's architectural decorations—the poster, the billboard, the window display. Modern buildings don't have traditional decorative elements... no statues or gargoyles," he says. "I want to make a statement about the perceived power of these iconic images in relation to the weakness and fragility of real people."

Ofer uses a variety of cameras including a 35mm Leica, a Canon digital SLR, and a large-format 4"x5" Linhof Technika view camera. "I enjoy the fantastic act of carefully capturing light on film, developing it, scanning every single detail, and then producing dramatic prints."
