Windows 98 Annoyances by David Karp Here are the changes that were made for 11/98 reprint: (119) Inserted footnote after "don't do this" in item #3 that reads: In some cases, installation programs write to the WIndows temporary directory, reboot the system, and then access the .tmp file. In such cases, this customization will cause the installation program to fail, usually in subtle ways. To prevent this, you should remember to comment out the DEL command in Autoexec.bat before installing any new software. To "comment out" the DEL command, use a text editor to insert a Rem statement in front of it.
