Summary

The significance of Windows 95 for network administrators is the promise of a more reliable, more easily managed PC operating system that includes support for TCP/IP. The features of Windows 95 address many of the problems mentioned in the first chapter of this book. How well the new operating system fulfills these promises remains to be seen. At the very least it shows that the PC market understands the importance of networking and is working hard to provide adequate support for it in desktop operating systems.

The next chapter looks at still another Windows operating system, Windows NT, that is designed to provide a reliable multitasking environment for a network server.
