3rd Paragraph

The beginning of the 3rd paragraph states "If you don't have 25 years to wait..." but the example is based on if you don't have $82K to invest. The code snippet the occampanies the text has 25 years set as the npre.

Note from the Author or Editor:
"If you don't have 25 years to wait" should read "If you don't have that much cash on hand"

3rd sentence: the phrase "the way" is repeated. (Another nice detail is the way the way you can jump . . .)

Note from the Author or Editor:

Hello, I think that there is an error in cells D12, E12, F12 and G12. The formula should include DB instead of DDB.

4th paragraph

Book states "Whereas ROUNDDOWN() always rounds a number towards its smallest value (so that =ROUNDDOWN(-3.4,0) gives you -4)"

This is incorrect; =ROUNDDOWN(-3.4,0) returns a result of -3 instead. =TRUNC(-3.4,0) and =ROUNDDOWN(-3.4,0) return the same value

Note from the Author or Editor:
Delete the paragraph "For the most part, TRUNC()..." and the following single line example "=TRUNC(-3.4, 0)"

fig 4-13 caption. Revise text so it now says:

In the Find Format dialog box, Excel won?t use any
formatting option that?s blank or grayed out as
part of it?s search criteria. For example, here, Excel
won?t search based on alignment. Checkboxes are
a little trickier. In some versions of Windows, it
looks like the checkbox is filled with a solid square (as with the ?Merge
cells? setting in this example). In other versions of Windows, it looks like
the checkbox is dimmed and checked at the same time.
Either way, this visual cue indicates that Excel
won?t use the setting as part of its search.

First instruction, 2nd paragraph. The text shows that "B2

through B12 are the student scores being analyzed." This should be
B2 through B13. Also, it continues "(E6 covers scores between 0
and 49, E7 covers 50 to 59, and so on)" This should say "(E6
covers scores between 0 and 59, E7 covers 60 to 69, and so on)"

Table 9-3 Advanced Statistical Functions (continued) has

the exact same descriptions for VAR() and VARA() Functions. This
is incorrect.

Note from the Author or Editor:
VAR() description, third column, should read "Excel ignores blank and text cells." instead of "Excel uses text cells as values, but ignores blank cells."
VARA() description, third column, should read "Excel uses text cells as 0 values, but ignores blank cells." instead of "Excel uses text cells as values, but ignores blank cells."
