First paragraph in 'Methods' section

The text says:
"... whereas methods that are specific to an instance of the MyWidget class, such as needsBatteries and powerOn..."

But the code examples suggest that "needsBatteries" is a static, not instance, method.

The interface contains the following method declaration:
+ (Bool)needsBatteries;

And the implementation on page 18 also uses the "+" notation for static methods.
