The Mac version of the Preferences panel has an extra, nested pair of Document
options at the top of the panel. They are

[checked] Open documents in tabs
[unchecked] Always show tabs

Author adds this note:

The Mac version offers two additional options for the General
category of the Preferences window. When "Open documents in tabs" is
selected, Dreamweaver opens each HTML page in one document window. A row of tabs at the top of the document window lists each open file. Click a tab to bring that page to the front. When this option isn't selected, Dreamweaver opens each Web page in its own window--this is how Dreamweaver worked prior to version 8, but it makes switching between documents much more time-consuming. Stick with tabs. The second option, "Always show tabs" will add a row for tabs at the top of the document window, even if you only have one Web page open.

In step 1, the property inspector doesn't list the Style menu; if one has followed the demo properly so far, the bottom line on the page is highlighted and the property inspector for that line is showing. Suggest having user click on a line of text at the beginning of step 1.

The second time it mentions http://www.my_buddy.com/my_friend, it's missing the
".com" part of the address.

Book says, "you can only use the Hyperlink object to create a new text
link. You can't use it to add a link to an image or to text you've
already placed on the page."

However, you can also highlight text that is already there and then select Insert
-> Hyperlink and the text will be in the proper spot.

Book says "Insert > Interactive Images".
DW8/Mac menu item is "Insert > Image Objects".

For "right column," should be:
"left column."

The Macintosh keyboard shortcut for Split Cell is Command+Option+S, not Option+S as
shown (unless this is an undocumented shortcut).

In the default workspace, the panel group that contains the Layers and CSS Styles
panels is called "CSS," not "Design" as indicated (although I think "Design" is a
much better name).

It says: "Click the + button at the top right of the panel." It should
read: "Click the + button at the top LEFT of the panel."

You can ignore the tip on page 720. The latest version of Dreamweaver
8 creates fully qualified column names -- for example,
products.productID -- when you use the Data Tree View to create SQL statements

The offset parameter does not work in PHP.

Instead, Dreamweaver uses a similar parameter, pageNum_[Recordset], where [Recordset]
is the name of the recordset. For example, if the Recordset is rsProducts, the
parameter is pageNum_rsProducts. (Note that this parameter refers to the page
number, not the row number, and it is zero-based, so to display the first page, use
pageNum_rsProducts=0; to display the 15th page, use pageNum_rsProducts=14.)
