Fig. 1-8. General, Document Options:

The Mac version of the Preferences panel has an extra, nested pair of Document
options at the top of the panel. They are

[checked] Open documents in tabs
[unchecked] Always show tabs

Author adds this note:

The Mac version offers two additional options for the General
category of the Preferences window. When "Open documents in tabs" is
selected, Dreamweaver opens each HTML page in one document window. A row of tabs at the top of the document window lists each open file. Click a tab to bring that page to the front. When this option isn't selected, Dreamweaver opens each Web page in its own window--this is how Dreamweaver worked prior to version 8, but it makes switching between documents much more time-consuming. Stick with tabs. The second option, "Always show tabs" will add a row for tabs at the top of the document window, even if you only have one Web page open.

POWER USERS' GUIDE
Getting to Know (and Love) CSS

Cascading Style Sheets are an exciting--and complex--addition to your Web building tool kit, worthy
of entire books and Web sites on this topic alone. For example:

Like the tutorials you're getting in this book? Then pick up a copy of CSS: The Missing Manual,
where you'll get the same kind of clear, expert guidance you've been reading in these pages.

If you want to get help and learn more about CSS, the CSS-Discuss mailing list (www.css-discuss.org/)
gives you access to a great community of CSS enthusiasts. Just be prepared for an overflowing inbox,
and be aware of the list etiquette spelled out on the list's home page.

You'll also find a helpful collection of wisdom generated from the CSS-Discuss Wiki at
http://css-discuss.incutio.com. This site provides insider tips, tricks, and resources for
solving many common CSS problems.

For the ultimate source of information, turn to the World Wide Web Consortium's Web site:
www.w3.org/Style/CSS/. The W3C is the body responsible for many of the standards that drive
the Web--including HTML and CSS. (Beware: This site is the ultimate authority on the matter
and reads like a college physics textbook.)

For a great list of CSS-related sites, visit the Information and Technology Systems and Services
Web site at the University of Minnesota, Duluth:
www.d.umn.edu/itss/support/Training/Online/webdesign/css.html.

Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide by Eric Meyer (O'Reilly) can't be beat for its exhaustive
coverage. Eric's Web site provides a lot of helpful information, too: http://meyerweb.com/eric/css/.

Finally, you don't have to look any further than your own desktop for the ultimate reference to each CSS
property. Dreamweaver's built-in Reference window provides instant access to concise information on
Cascading Style Sheets (see the box on page 353).

Figure 10-14 does not match the description provided in the final paragraph.

figure's "Named fields" field to contain the following:
text "name" in form "signup" (R)
text "age" in form "signup"
text "email" (isEmail) <---- changed

Note and figure

The offset parameter does not work in PHP.

Instead, Dreamweaver uses a similar parameter, pageNum_[Recordset], where [Recordset]
is the name of the recordset. For example, if the Recordset is rsProducts, the
parameter is pageNum_rsProducts. (Note that this parameter refers to the page
number, not the row number, and it is zero-based, so to display the first page, use
pageNum_rsProducts=0; to display the 15th page, use pageNum_rsProducts=14.)

This is a bug in Dreameaver. Adobe has a technical note on the problem at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=b6c2ae2a, and you can download a patch that fixes Dreameaver from http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/b6c2ae2a/DW802_HotFix-0_6_0.zip
