The text of the last sentence of the last paragraph on p. 14 says: "In this example, the value of sum is 140963" This is incorrect. According to the script shown above this paragraph (also on p. 14), the value of sum is 80600. 140963 would only be the value of sum if the script matched all the lines shown in the sample input. The purpose of the script is to sum the file sizes of each file matching "Nov" in the 6th column; files created in November. The files created in "Apr", "Jun", and "Dec" would not match the script, and thus would not be added to the variable sum. AUTHOR: Thanks for this, Mr. Moniz is correct, the sum should be changed to 80600. |
