Full Description

Do you sigh in frustration when your computer shows a blank screen for no apparent reason? Are you tired of waiting for your husband to install that wireless network? Have you felt belittled by the sales guy at your local tech emporium? Well, you're not alone.

In How to Be a Geek Goddess, author Christina Tynan-Wood shares the expertise she gained while writing for magazines like PC World and PC Magazine but keeps the book light and conversational. Like advice from the geek girlfriends you always wished you had, the book explains topics in a way you'll understand: No patronizing guy bluster, unnecessary jargon, or information you aren't interested in, just the stuff you need to know to get the job done. You'll learn how to use your computer to get more done in less time, shop for gear, fit an ugly computer into a lovely living room, hang out in online communities, and keep yourself and your family safe online. Tynan-Wood covers basic and not-so-basic topics, like how to use VoIP to make inexpensive telephone calls over the Internet and set up a wireless network in your home.

Why should computers and tech gadgets be the domain of men? Make them your own with How to Be a Geek Goddess. Armed with the knowledge you'll gain from this book, you'll seem like a computer whiz to everyone around you. They'll be coming to you for tech support in no time!

so you know how your cruising along on a project in your home office and everything is running smoothly, right on track with your deadline... not much time for distractions but if things stay smooth then no prob! you'll be coming into the home stretch soon and then you can go play! and then..... *crash*... some technical glitch hits you like suddenly you can't access your wireless network or any number of countless disturbing disruptions occur that means you are going to have to pick up the phone and call some guy, who welcomes the opportunity to spout his knowledge all over you for countless hours (more knowledge than you need to access) and then at the end of the "tech call" he is going to smugly tell you that you *owe him*....

guess what? this book takes care of that... keeps you on track in a clean sharp personal way that makes it all so clear! and it's like talking to some witty, smart, frank, sisterly kind of person who isn't going to overwhelm you with too much behind the scenes knowledge that you simply just don't care about anyway! and no "hey now you can take me to lunch" comment at the end!

Thank you Christina!!!

I got a chance to see early copies of this book, and it's really one of a kind -- in a good way. Chock full of helpful advice to newbies of any sex, but with a brilliant spin for the women in the crowd, who've always been under-served (or completely unserved) by technology books.

Even if you're a guy, you should read it to find out what women really think (but only if you're brave enough to find out). And of course, buy one for your wife/girlfriend(s)/sisters/mothers and everyone else who bugs you for free tech support.

I can't wait for this to hit the stores so I can start farming out copies to my friends. Imagine the free time I'll have, now that I don't have to answer their &*##(#!! questions.
