Full Description
This beautifully illustrated and eminently practical book offers a complete tour of
Lightroom 2, the integrated digital photography workflow application that allows serious photographers to import, select, develop and showcase large volumes of digital images. Augmented by photos and case studies from a demanding road test in Tasmania, award-winning photographer Mikkel Aaland explains how Lightroom can improve the way you work.
After watching -- and often helping -- Adobe create Lightroom entirely from the ground up, Aaland (author of
Photoshop CS3 RAW) decided to try it out in the field. He organized a group of top-notch photographers for a trek to Tasmania, the exotic island south of mainland Australia, where the only studio was Lightroom on a laptop. In
Photoshop Lightroom 2 Adventure, Aaland uses hands-on knowledge from the trip to demonstrate how Lightroom can help you create the best possible image under any conditions.
This unique tutorial walks you step-by-step through Lightroom's:
- Library module for uploading, sorting, tagging, ranking and adding keywords to your images
- Develop module with Adobe Camera RAW for complete non-destructive color and tonal adjustments
- Slideshow module, where you select and size images, and export the show to HTML, Flash, or PDF formats
- Print module, which includes several templates for printing contact sheets or full images
- Web module, where you can create Flash or HTML web galleries
With many gorgeous examples shot in the exotic wilds of Tasmania, this book lets you see the results for yourself. Mikkel Aaland's trademark ability to teach complicated topics on digital imaging with straightforward, easy-to-follow text makes this book a valuable learning tool for anyone serious about digital photography.

This book is MUCH easier to use than the other Lightroom books I have (read). Especially for the beginner going using these kind of Programs. It tells you what you can do, with lots of examples, why you should do it (or not); the library and cataloguing is normally undertreated, here it is very good. In this book you learn more than just doing what the writer wants you to do, but learns you to understand the program.

Photoshop Lightroom 2 Adventure: Mastering Adobe's Next-Generation Tool for Digital Photographers by Mikkel Aaland.
This is a different style of book from what you normally find in project based books. While it has it's fair share of screen shots as you would expect, it's also beautifully illustrated with some amazing photography from a wide array of professional photographers.
The landscape of the photos is from a Tasmanian photo trek. Mikkel Aaland takes you on a fabulous journey through Lightroom as you experience not only his photographic skill but also his Lightroom workflow. This is one of the better Lightroom books available.
The beginning of the book introduces you to the 18 photographers and 5 Adobe Lightroom Developers that Mikkel on this trip. Everyday for 10 days they would shoot, then every night for those 10 days they would spend their evenings processing the days worth of shots thru Lightroom 2. The end result is this fabulous book.

"Last summer I paid for Lightroom upgrade and as soon as I saw
Photoshop Lightroom 2 Adventure, I pleaded for my review copy. It is a gorgeous and absolutely indispensable book for all Lightroom users."

"What separate's Aaland's
adventure book from the other lightroom adventure books? The superb photos illustrating techniques. Rather than resorting to stock, the book inspires with stunning images shot in Tasmania by Aaland and a teen of 18 pros. It's hands-on Lightroom-learning in the real (make that exotic) world."
-- Derek Pell,
Zoom Street Magazine
"
Photoshop Lightroom 2 Adventure is on the other hand a great concept for a book. It allows me as the reader, an entertaining way to learn of new photographers, see how they compare to others who basically are shooting the same sites, all while learning the new features of Lightroom 2."
