It simply rocks, March 08 2005
Well,
I have the first edition too. When i got the first edition i ofund it the best . now I must say i was wrong. This current edtion is far better than that. Whenever I go through this , I always find something new and exciting. Gmail part is good but the other hacks like scripts and all are really useful.
This book is one of my ewveryday companion and wherever I go I always carry this.
Thank you all for providing us such a nice book.
Tara and Rael ... 2nd Edition is Better than the First!!!, January 15 2005
The 2nd Edition is truly an excellent work! I thought the 1st Edition was outstanding but now must concede that the 2nd Edition is even better especially with all the neat capabilities for the new Gmail! Every time I pick up the 2nd Edition I discover something new and a new Google Hack that makes my researching easier and allows me to work on the results and not the initial search!! I will review the 2nd Edition for my Awareness Watch Newsletter and my true thanks to Tara and Rael on creating another excellent publication on Google Hacks!
Media reviews
"In short, this book provides a fascinating hands-on experience in taking Googling to the next level. Like all the Hacks books, it has tips for the timid, and big, bold programs for the brave. You may never look at Google the same way again."
--DrPat, Blogcritics.org, June 2005
"Tara Calishain and Rael Dornfest's Google Hacks, 2nd Edition tells how to work more effectively with Google's unique search engine, how to pull results from difficult places using advanced Google web functions, and how to understand how Google ranks web sites for searches. Either frequent internet searchers or website builders will find Google Hacks an essential guide."
--James Cox, The Computer Shelf, Midwest Book Review, May 2005
"Google Hacks presents tons of useful ways to use Google for searches, fun and more."
--Richard Pachter, Miami Herald, March 2005
"On the whole, the second edition is a step forward in usefulness. The new content will have broader appeal and will serve in good stead both casual users looking to get a little more out of Google and hardcore techies who really want to go in and hack it like it attacked their family...As Google continues to grow and evolve, adding more features and functions, guides like this begin to play an important role in keeping the complexity manageable and in helping us find what we need in the midst of more noise and distraction."
--Ric Shreves, March 2005
"Google Hacks: Tips & Tools for Smarter Searching is helpful reference for any Google user who wants to get the most out of their searching experience...If any of your work relies on using Google, Google Hacks should be part of it."
--Ben Rothke, UnixReview.com, March 2005
"Calishain does an excellent job of explaining in plain language how to construct and then narrow or expand search terms as the user tries to find specific information...And along the way, she has some tips for people like me who may perform several few hundred searches every day and already have a pretty good handle on finding most everything in Google."
--Brian Carnell, April 2005
