Footnote text: For simplicity, we are neglecting the overlap in the incremental backup set that occurs on successive days. For example, on the third day, 30% is the right figure only if the files that changed are completely distinct from the ones that changed on the second day. If we assume the change rate is uniform across all files, the actual change is 30% - (15%*15%) = 27.75%. Ignoring this effect makes the figure's block size and the table's numbers come out much prettier.
