Programming with QT - a must have., April 22 2008
This book provides an excellent top down view of Qt's class library. Most of the chapters touch on the fundamentals of different classes. The book provides plenty of information that one can become comfortable with the facilities Qt has to offer. After revisiting this book, I firmly believe that it provides excellent material for new Qt developers as well as seasoned ones.
With Qt's risen popularity and importance as a rich cross-platform application development framework, this book is a must have!

This reviewer is criticizing only the choice of topic (Qt vs. gtk+), nothing else about the book is mentioned. Why 3-stars? He/she never says.
Programming with Qt, 2nd Edition Review, March 11 2003
This book provided an excellent top down view of Qt's class library. Most of the chapters touch on the fundamentals of different classes. It would have been nice to see more details or expansion on each area. The book provides enough information, that one can become comfortable with the facilities Qt has to offer. However, it stops there. You enter this book as a beginner and leave it the same way.
Programming with Qt, 2nd Edition Review, September 12 2002
'Programming with Qt' is the best book on the market relating to Qt. I read this book from cover to cover and it gave me all the information I needed to get up and running in no time. Since reading this book, I'm nearing completion of an MSN Messenger clone which will run on all popular platforms. I also keep a copy of this book by my desk at work and use it on a daily basis.
Programming with Qt, 2nd Edition Review, February 05 2002
I bought the first edition of this book the day I saw it in the bookstore. I found it to be lucid and sensibly organized. Replete with useful examples, it quickly became one of the most thumbed-through books in my frighteningly-large ORA collection.
The second edition is a worthy successor. All the things I liked about the first edition remain in the second; the meat of the changes merely update the content for the events in Qt's life over the last 3 years. Kalle and all the folks behind the scenes did an outstanding job with the update.
(Shame about the white spine, but that's the new O'Reilly way...sigh.)
Programming with Qt, 2nd Edition Review, December 21 2001
ive read oreilly's perl and php and a c book from another author. im surprised they didnt go for gtk+ or something instead. great book(as all oreilly books), but i'd prefer a gtk+ book so i can write gnome apps. i hope o reilly comes out with one and if so i cant wait. good gtk+ books are rare.

"A good book on the subject is published by O'Reilly and is called 'Programming with QT' by Matthias Kalle Dalheimer."

"The ideal Qt introduction...a very well-written book, and a worthwhile read for all but the most advanced Qt programmers...this is probably the only Qt book you will ever need to buy. LinuxFormat rating 9/10."
--Maurice Kelly, LinuxFormat, August 2002
"If you want to use Qt, or just know what it can do, this is essential reading."
--Major Keary, AUSOM & AUSOM News, June 2002
"I recommend 'Programming with Qt.' It provides a comprehensive overview of the library, from basic controls and text processing to graphics and event handling"
--Alan C. Moore, Ph.D., Delphi Informant, May 2002
"a very solid guide."--Andrew Binstock, Software Development Times, April 15, 2002
"One of the richest and most complete guides of any GUI Toolkit books I read so far?All in all, this is the best Qt book out there--very easy to follow and read, and if you are into OOP C++ programming (either a KDE hacker or a developer trying to find a truly portable and capable toolkit or ifyou are an ex-BeOS developer), you should take a look on both Qt and the book. You won't regret it. Overall: 9/10."--Eugenia Loli-Queru, OSNews.com, March 4, 2002
