Example 12-4

In example 12-4, the "strings:get-norm-length" function is declared with a return type of "xs:string?" when in fact the correct return type is "xs:integer?" (or at least, some numeric type).

This error is also present in the examples on datypic.com.

It doesn't have much of an impact on the didactic value of the book but it shows as an error in Oxygen, which I'm using as I go through the book.

Note from the Author or Editor:
The reader is correct. The return type of the "strings:get-norm-length" function should be xs:integer.

4th text paragraph

The example binds the partial function application to the variable $first-two-characters, but the text refers to the variable $f.

Note from the Author or Editor:
All references to $f in the cited paragraph should say $first-two-characters instead.
