Printed | Page iv, 4 Part 2 |
In the table of contents, Part 2 is titled "The iPhone as iPod," but that is the title of Chapter 6. Page 4 gives the correct title for Part 2 as "Pix, Flix and Apps." Note from the Author or Editor: |

"Delete key" should be "Backspace key". I fussed and fussed with this thinking that "Delete" would be one of the "Cut,Copy, etc" options. I tried to look up "Delete key" in the index. I finally thought to tap the Backspace key (which IS in the index), and it worked. I would have known what key was meant immediately if it had said "Backspace key". Note from the Author or Editor: |

The star to show something is already in Favorites is gray, not blue (I submitted this erroneously under page 66). Note from the Author or Editor: |

In the section listing which keys can produce alternative characters when you hold down your finger, it says that capital O can produce the Degrees symbol. It should be the number 0. Note from the Author or Editor: |

"...you get the little message shown below (left)." Rather than show "below", the illustration is on the preceding page. Also, the message is hardly "little". I'd suggest replacing "little" with "Calibrate". Another thing, my iPhone display matched the illustration in the book -- i.e. it didn't display the geographic coordinates at the bottom as the text says, so it wasn't there to tap to jump to Maps. The problem was not having the compass app CPS turned on under Settings-Privacy-Location Services. |

iBooks didn't come on my iPhone (all the other apps described in the book did). I did download it to see what it was like, and iOS7 has changed the look from the illustrations in the book (p325) -- there are no longer any "handsome wooden shelves", just a plain white background. In Searching the Maps, you can also enter the Latitude and Longitude coordinates for results, and it will go there and even display the address (if applicable). |

"Overview" is not one of the buttons at the bottom as the lead-in says. It is in the upper-right corner as the first paragraph on the next page (345) says. Note from the Author or Editor: |
Gail Jackson | Jan 04, 2014 | Jan 10, 2014 |
Printed | Page 346 Maps app description, Traffic |
The 1st paragraph says "traffic jams appear as dotted black lines." In the photos on pages 339 and 340, and on my iPhone 5s, POOR conditions appear to be indicated by DASHED RED lines, and FAIR conditions by DOTTED YELLOW lines. When neither are present, conditions are good. (These are comparable to the red, yellow, and green lines of Google Maps.) Note from the Author or Editor: |
Pete Cook | Nov 22, 2013 | Jan 10, 2014 |
Printed | Page 347 Maps app description, Flyover |
The 3rd paragraph says "you'll see the 3D icon appear next to the 3D button." On my iPhone 5s, the Flyover icon (picture of buildings) REPLACES the "3D" button. Note from the Author or Editor: |
