caption

Throughout the book, mention is made of "Windows Mobile." The author is referring to the operating system known as "Windows Phone." The prior "Windows Mobile" operating system didn't have the features he's talking about.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Change all instances of "Windows Mobile" to "Windows Phone"

The caption refers to the mode as "Plain"-- this is meant to say "Plan" to match the screenshot.

3rd paragraph

3rd Paragraph: "triggers that initiates it" -> Should be "triggers that initiate it"

4th Paragraph: "as a set of linked microinteraction" -> Should be "as a set of linked microinteractions"

Page 27
image figure 2-2

The image for figure 2-2 actually is not what the text describes in the paragraph above it. In the paragraph at the top of page 27, it says "settings, such as those for the desktop in Figure 2-2..." The image actually shows the Gnome desktop file icons, and the image illustrates the concept in the bottom paragraph of page 27 ("bring the data forward"). I think maybe the right image is missing and an extra image got stuck in the box. :) Thanks for taking a look!

Note from the Author or Editor:
Remove the phrase "such as those for the desktop in Figure 2-2,"

It's inaccurate.

first paragraph

Pronoun/Number agreement problem.

"Every system-initiated trigger should have some manual means of managing or disabling them."

Should be:

"Every system-initiated trigger should have some manual means of managing or disabling it."

"only by clicking on the original text"

That's incorrect. It's "only by clicking on the translated text."

1st paragraph second section

"can be plugged in to the iPhone's or iPad's port in any orientation."

That's incorrect. It rectangular connector can be inserted in either of two orientations (USB only allows one orientation), but not "any" orientation.

Contrast with a round connector like a power cable-- those can be inserted in any orientation.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Change "can be plugged in to the iPhone's or iPad's port in any orientation." to

"can be plugged in to the iPhone's or iPad's port facing up or down."

After the "tip" callout

The command isn't SHUTDWN_DMN_TIL, it is SHUTDWN_DMT_TIL.

You can easily see this by following the link in the tip above.

First full paragrph

Delete this (redundant) sentence: "When a user exits to a special mode and then returns to the main interaction, she expects the main interaction to be in the same state as she left it?with the addition of any changes made while in the special mode."

Paragraph after quotation

"Hammers, like most tools, are very good for a few discreet activities."

While the text is amusing, I'm sure the author meant "discrete."

Note from the Author or Editor:
change "discreet" to "discrete"
